Ways to Raise Money

Dollar Matching

Halogen has come alongside Invisible Children, promising to match the first $100,000 raised in this round of Schools for Schools - up to $1,000 per school. Here's how it works: You raise a buck, they give a buck to your school's total. It's limited to $1,000 per school, so if you manage to raise $1,000, it'll be counted as $2,000 for your total.

Collect Change

Your fundraising can start small. Placing jars and buckets around your school and community to collect change is a simple way to raise a lot of money. Last year, Cypress Woods HS raised over $10,000 doing just that.

A few pennies here; a few quarters there. It adds up fast.

Collect Change is a perfect first step towards getting your club started in raising money for war-affected schools in northern Uganda.

Share Your School

By signing up with Schools for Schools, your club will have its own unique website at s4s.invisiblechildren.com. And we’re counting on you to make sure everyone you know has seen it.

Tell your friends... your family... your neighbors... your friends on Facebook who aren’t really your friends but you added them anyway... everyone.

Share your school’s website, where supporters can make an instant donation to your club’s fundraising.

Partner With Your School

We did some research: Approximately 82.523% of fundraising work is simply putting on an event and getting people to come. Since your school has a variety of dances, sporting events and school plays already happening, they’re practically doing this work for you.

Okay, that research is a guess. But you get the point. Latching on to your school event is an effective way to raise money. The people are already there. You just need to put on your fundraising face (whatever that looks like) and share the story of your partner school and why additional funds will radically change their future.

Auburn HS set up a table at intermission of their school play and raffled off a gift basket with swag from local businesses - raising hundreds of dollars. Other schools have paired with football games and homecoming dances to add an extra dollar to the ticket cost, collecting that money for their club.

Talk to your club advisor and get a meeting with who you need to get a meeting with. They’ll bring the people; you bring Schools for Schools.

Get Creative and Go Big

Get creative - Schools for Schools is challenging every club to create their own unique fundraiser and set new precedents for what we can accomplish.

It’s not about how much you raise, but how you raise it. The top Creative Idea (decided on by a top secret committee out of our offices in San Diego) will win the adventure of a lifetime with an all-expense paid trip to northern Uganda. Get creative. Think big. Redefine fundraising.

Host One Big Event

You collected your change, shared your club’s website, partnered with your school’s events, and got creative. Now it’s time for the Big Event. Benefit concerts and overnight awareness events have seen some of the most success, but there’s plenty of ideas to choose from.

Chapman University raised $8,000 from a glow-in-the-dark dance party. Desert Mountain High School raised $6,000 from an art show.

It’s up to you how big you want to go. (And you’re allowed to Get Creative on this one too.)

Whatever you do, however you do it, the money you’re raising is creating a new standard of education for war-affected schools in northern Uganda. In a region that’s been defined by over 20 years of war, you have an opportunity to work together and rebuild the future.

Ways to Go

Schools for Schools is offering three unique ways to win an all-expense paid trip next summer to northern Uganda. Here’s how you can Go:

  • 1 - Raise the most money within your region.
  • 2 - Raise over $20,000. (It’s a big number, we know, but it’s been done.)
  • 3 - Have the top Creative Idea.
  • Three different ways. One trip of a lifetime.

And if your club raises over $5,000, two members will be invited to the San Diego Summit, an exclusive event that will further train you as an Invisible Children activist.
